Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) has been implementing Feed the Future Bangladesh Women’s Empowerment Activity (WEA) project since May 2015 at field level with the management support of DAM Foundation for Economic Development (DFED). Women’s Empowerment Activity (WEA) an innovative three-year program based on market-driven, community led interventions. Grounded in an enabling environment that engaged men, families and communities, WEA will enhance women’s leadership, income, assets, and decision making in five Feed the Future (FTF) zone of influence districts. The overall objective of the project is to increase empowerment of women and gender parity in targeted areas of the Bangladesh’s Feed the Future zone. WEA is designed around three inter-related components: targeting beneficiaries, women’s empowerment groups, and income generating activities. Winrock works in partnership with Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), Advanced Chemical Industries, Ltd (ACI), and other Bangladeshi partner organizations to implement activities that contribute to the project’s intermediate results and overall goal. Project location is Jessore and Khulna district covering 24 union under 08 Upazila. The Winrock-led team coordinates closely with ongoing USAID projects, Government of Bangladesh (GOB) stakeholders, and other development partners in the country.
